Just wanted to give some input to the City and the NCDOT and recommend not going through with the current plan. Being a local, growing up in Weaverville, and a new homeowner in Woodfin, I’ve been traveling down Merrimon Ave my whole life. I’ve always enjoyed the businesses on that stretch of road, and feel that a lot of tourists and out of towners don’t get to enjoy them. If the decision was made to make Merrimon more bicycle and pedestrian friendly, we’d be benefiting locals and tourists alike. I think that Merrimon has enormous potential to become an example of how improving bike and foot travel can overall improve safety, traffic, and entrepreneurship for the whole city to enjoy.
