Donate to Asheville on Bikes

What does your money do when you invest in Asheville on Bikes?

It Persuades.

Our advocacy shapes the future of Asheville and Buncombe County’s transportation landscape. From advocating for transformative projects like the Merrimon Avenue, College/Patton Avenue, and Haywood Road Complete Streets to championing initiatives like AVL Unpaved, we are at the forefront of creating safer, more accessible streets, greenways, and trails.

As a small but impactful nonprofit, we influence key institutions, including the French Broad River MPO, the North Carolina DOT, the City of Asheville, and Buncombe County. Recently, we partnered with the North Carolina Outdoor Recreation Coalition to secure legislative support and funding for critical investments in complete streets, greenways, and trails. With your support, we can expand our reach and better match the influence of these well-funded organizations.

Community Bike Ride

It Teaches.

Through our youth cycling program, we’re inspiring the next generation of riders while instilling invaluable life skills in middle school students. Bike Club, the oldest youth cycling program in North Carolina, was established in 2014 at Asheville Middle School and has since grown to collaborate with diverse youth-focused organizations. Your support helps us continue nurturing confidence, independence, and a love for biking in young riders.

It Creates Joy.

Our events bring people together, boost biking participation, and spread happiness throughout the community. In challenging times, like during Hurricane Helene, we pivoted to support local Asheville businesses, fostering community resilience. We celebrate the joy of cycling to interesting places, building connections and strengthening our local economy.

Help us grow these events and inspire more people to experience the joy and freedom of biking while supporting Asheville’s vibrant spirit.

Did you know that:

Donate and we can do even more.

  • $500 can put a kid on a bike at Asheville Middle School in our after-school program, including all the gear.
  • $1,000 can power the work to research and write additional advocacy documents, make public information requests, and publish public comment guidelines.
  • $5,000 can run an election-year candidate forum or upgrade a public ride or event.
  • $7,500 can build a study, like the Merrimon Rd Study which influenced the North Carolina Department of Transportation and the City of Asheville.
  • $10,000 can power scholarships and grants made to other groups, selected for their ability to solve specific bicycle and pedestrian problems.
  • $20,000 could expand our youth cycling program beyond Asheville Middle School and to other campuses and spaces.
  • $100,000 would allow us to finalize phase 1 of AVL Unpaved and begin work on phase 2.
  • $250,000 could change the scope of our work for years to come, allowing us to become a meaningful partner with regional land trusts. We could help avoid a future where key connectors disappear before a government entity can get up to speed.
