The next Asheville City Council meeting is chock-full of bike stuff, and we want you to show up!
We’ll first celebrate receiving the designation as a Bicycle Friendly Community from the League of American Cyclists. This multi-month application process collects our accomplishments over the last few years, and looks towards the future on how we can continue to improve. Please come celebrate this national honor with us!
Included in the meetings agenda is discussion of Asheville adopting a Complete Streets Policy, as well as potential changes to the Charlotte Street traffic flow. Complete Streets would give a stronger focus on active transportation options along our city streets, and the Charlotte Street options include adding amenities for bikes and pedestrians, and beautifying this work/live corridor. There might even be some talk of allowing skateboards as transportation!
So, we need as many people as we can to come out. Show up, in your helmet, cheer for our award, and let your voice be heard on pending issues. City Council meets at 5:00pm on Tuesday, June 26th in the Council Chamber on the second floor of City Hall (that’s the big building on the right).
