Sign up to learn the secrets of successful bike commuting. “Second Saturdays” finds bicyclists learning essential information they can use on every ride. Classes are usually held at the UNCA-Sherrill Center, Room 442. Advance registration required!

Confident Commuter Class (May 10 from 10 AM-1 PM), Second Saturdays provides an overview of traffic safety principles; layering and dealing with weather; bicycle storage at your work site; and other fundamentals. This class is great for someone who is a recreational or mountain cyclist, or would like a refresher to feel more comfortable commuting for a portion of their trips by bike.
Traffic Skills 101 (April 12 from 10 AM-4 PM) course gives cyclists the confidence needed to ride safely and legally in traffic or on the trail. The course covers bicycle safety checks; fixing a flat; on-bike skills and crash avoidance techniques, and includes a student manual. Recommended for adults and children above age 14, this fast-paced course prepares cyclists for a full understanding of vehicular cycling.
